Indoor Doghouse

My shop supervisor, Bob Barker, told me that he needed a more comfortable area to take a rest when he was hanging out with his momma in her office. Up until now we had a regular rate in there for him to sleep in, but neither he nor his mom I felt like that was the best option. So, we decided to make an indoor doghouse that would match the look of the furniture that we already belt for the office.
I ended up choosing 5/8-inch-thick plywood for this build. I just felt that 1/2 inch would be to flimsy but also that 3/4 was likely a bit overkill. We started off by assembling a basic box with an opening for a window in the right side. My plan was to paint this box the same color as some of the furniture in the room. And for the accidents we are mainly using white oak. We did a face frame all with solid white oak and then also trimmed out the top of the box with the same hardware.
However, when it came to the privacy screen in front, I wanted to give it some extra detail, so it did not look like a jail cell. After going through multiple iterations of what type of design we are going to use we settled on a combination of white oak and walnut in a pattern.
After using my sprayer to add the primary and pain to the main box, I used a combination of smoke 5% and bourbon Rubio Monocoat for the finish. We added a bit of white oak trim to the window to make it appear more finished. And to dress up the inside I made two small picture frames out of the White Oak. For one of the frames Bob Parker picked out a picture of him in his mom a sitting pulse side. For the other one I printed out a picture of his frenemy, Benny. From day one he was not very fond of Benny, mainly because he does not like sharing his grandma's attention with anybody else. After seeing this picture, he added his own personal touch to it.
For the inside we used a dog bed pad to lie in the bottom and make it more comfortable for him. And since this is mainly just for a comfortable and private sleeping spot we did not make any locking mechanism for it. Is meant to remain open so he can go in and out as he pleases.
Once he saw the end result, but Barker gave me his paw of approval.
